Ohio Senate Approves Anti-BDS Resolution

On November 28th, the Ohio Senate approved House Concurrent Resolution 10 which condemns the BDS movement and activities that are harmful to Israel and Jewish people.

Rep. Andy Thompson meeting at the Agudath Israel of Ohio office with Rabbi Yitz Frank.

Senator Frank LaRose (R-Hudson), recently elected to serve as Ohio’s next Secretary of State, said the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement has been tied to an increase in anti-Semitic activities. The resolution, he said, represents a statement on behalf of Ohioans that those incidents – and other incidents of hate – are unacceptable. The resolution further states that the General Assembly wishes to “reaffirm our position that the trustees, administrators, and educators at all levels in our universities in Ohio, must take an active stand against all anti-Semitic actions and intimidation taken against Jewish students on their campuses.”

The resolution passed the Senate with a vote of 30-0.

Upon the request of the sponsors of the resolution, Rep. Dave Greenspan (R-Westlake) and Rep. Andy Thompson (R-Marrietta), Agudath Israel provided support for this resolution and participated in a press conference to promote its passage.

Agudath Israel commends Senator Larose, and the resolution sponsors for their consistent support and service.
